Hello, I’m Sophia
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent and an expat living in New York, United States.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly evolved into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, unpredictability, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Kind Garden Compass
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in United States.
What This Site Represents (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a resource from a tourism authority
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophia
